Linguistics is commonly defined as the science of language (Lyons, 1991: 16). It’s in line in Robins (1971), that general linguistics may be defined as the science of language. In past centuries, this science of language has been growing fast. Language matters for human life because it plays greater role in the world and between people. It facilitates people as a medium for communication. As it's growing fast, the study of it too, raises a variety of influential figures with its overwhelming theories that talk about Linguistics.

In the midst of uproar because of the demographic transition as well as agricultural and industrial revolution in 19th Century, novel came up as a major change in literature. Writers in that era poured their thoughts and ideas to their work through novel. Furthermore, women’s role in 19th Century society that got intense debate was like a birth of movement for women’s suffrage, which also influenced women’s role in literature. This era was the era of the professional woman writer, a time in which women demanded a place alongside men in the world of letters to contribute to cultural discourse, to make their opinions heard, and to tell their own stories.
